WELCOME

Welcome to the Eastleigh & District Referees Society Web Site. Within this facility you will find all your supporting information on Refereeing, Social Events, Society News, Football, both local and national level and your own Fast Track Service. To help you find important information quickly we have provided information on Appointment Secretaries, Local Football Grounds and Local Leagues.

Our Society, which is one of the largest in the country, continuously supports in excess of 180 members. This association is reflective of a professional and supportive structure for Refereeing and Social Integration. A relaxed, friendly and enjoyable atmosphere is maintained at regular meetings and social events. All our members enjoy the forums for the quality of our Guest Speakers, Referee Training & Development and for the camaraderie that their membership brings

Young Referees are offered full support via a sub committee and engage in Referee Training and Development through their own meetings and a supportive structure. Anyone wishing to become a Referee or join our society should contact either Albert Asbury or Garry Smith

Full affiliation to the Referees' Association is included in the annual subscription to our society and associate membership is available to those referees and others who are already affiliated through another society, or who have no need of the insurance cover and other facilities.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
A special thanks goes to Stephen Green, the President of Reading RA and a FA Licensed instructor, for attending as guest speaker. Stephen created some excellent discussion and debate after providing some controversial incidents on video. As referees we only have a second or two to make decisions so it was nice to be able to look back and take minutes to decide on action sequence.

Stephen also reminded us about the critical words: Careless, Reckless and Excessive Force when deciding what action to take after a foul has been committed. Thanks Stephen - your support is much appreciated!

During the Annual General Meeting Fred Wiltshire pointed out the outstanding work that Colin and Albert due for the society.
Everyone endorsed this point, noting the continuous energy and effort both applied throughout the year to ensure our society is maintained at the highest standard. On behalf of all the members a special thanks goes to Albert and Colin!

Rudi Burton was presented with the Audrey Sturgess trophy for his excellent contribution to Football, Refereeing and our Society. Thank You Rudi

The Fred Wiltshire award goes to a young referee who demonstrates excellent ability as a referee as well as exhibiting energy and effort towards helping the society. This year the award went to Sam Ogles.

The Ladies Trophy was also won by an up and coming young referee. This award went to Hollie Moisey. Both our potential refereeing stars are pictured here with their respective trophies.

Respect the Ref Campaign Awards 2006-07
At the end of last season our members decided to award three teams who had shown outstanding good attitude towards our referees.

Southampton Football League
The award went to Real Way who only collected one caution all season

Southampton & District League
Their award went to Holbury United for Good Secretarial Contact and good behaviour on the field.

City of Southampton Football League
The award went to Eastbrook Harriers who had very few offences on the field of play.

They were surprised when they received the award at the BAT Club in June.

It was apparent from all three league meetings that the presentation of this award has enhanced our standing with teams who were at the meetings. Many passed very complimentary comments about our local referees. Lets hope that respect continues into this season

We had several nominations for Tyro Teams. No team was nominated twice so we are still looking for our first youth team to receive the award. We look forward to making more awards during this season. So keep nominating.
